On the basis of increasing sanctions against Iran , a senate committees has recently voted to make it easier for individuals to seize and auction off priceless ancient Persian antiquities like Persepolis historical tablets held in American museums. This proposal is to be approved by the Senate. If it is a true story and if this proposal is going to be become law ,it obviously would be contrary to the claims made by US government about Iranian people ; It shows open hostility of US politicians against Iranian people since approving such a proposal means ancient objects of Iran held in universities and different museums of the world – which belongs to Iranian people rather than Iranian government – might be seizured , confiscated and auctioned off in the near future.
Up to now and according to the claims of US politicians the main purpose of some sanctions against Iran has been the Iranian government not the Iranian people however approving such a proposal destroys national historic and ancient assets of Iranian people in a way which there would be no possibility for retrieving those properties from private buyers and those governments that clearly intend to benefit from Iranian history.
We are active Iranian NGOs responsible for maintaining cultural heritage of Iranian people . Our background on protecting historical relics and monuments of Iran is clear and in some cases we have even been critical to some undesirable operations made by some of the government agencies in the field of cultural heritage preservation. We sincerely demand you , the public opinion , public associations and cultural community of United States of America to help us save the historic properties of Iranian people by pressuring those senators who take step with the purpose of setting up fire between you and us and who act on behalf of the anti- Iranian lobbies . please help us to block a vote on a bill proposed by one of the senate committees and secure the priceless Persian artifacts under threat.
